On the Mentorship Program
“I’m a first-generation college student and first-generation American so everything is very new to me.” While working on her professional development, she realized that a lot of her friends had a mentor figure in her life and she was determined to find one of her own to help her with her career. She wanted someone to “share their personal experience and what they learned from it so I don’t make the same mistakes.” Through Forage, she found the general career advice she was seeking.
On Seeking General Career Advice
Ngocthy wanted someone to “share their personal experience and what they learned from it so I don’t make the same mistakes.” Through Forage, she found the general career advice she was seeking as she is learning about sales and client partnerships through the mentorship program. Although she is interested in working in a field that combines her areas of study, the work insight has helped her broaden her career horizons.
On Being a Freshman in the Recruitment Process
Although Ngocthy is only a freshman, she is getting a headstart on her career by searching out different internship opportunities in tax accounting and internal auditing. As there are not many opportunities available for freshman internships, she has yet to land an opportunity; however, she is gaining experience with applications and professional development that will help her further down the line. She continues to complete opportunities such as Forage’s Accenture program as she says she is “finding out what I like, my interests, and working on time-balance and motivation to do things.”
